Martin Luciano Scorsese (lahir 17 November 1942) adalah seorang sutradara film Amerika Serikat. Ia mulanya ingin menjadi pastor, namun akhirnya memilih sekolah NYU film school dan tamat pada tahun 1966. Dalam film-filmnya ia sering bekerja sama dengan editor Thelma Schoonmaker, aktor Harvey Keitel, Robert De Niro, dan Leonardo DiCaprio.
Ia juga sempat menyutradarai video musik Michael Jackson Bad pada 1987. Pada 2007 ia memenangkan Academy Awards untuk Sutradara Terbaik dengan film The Departed.
The Rolling Stones adalah sebuah band rock Inggris yang mulai terkenal sejak tahun 1960-an masih eksis hingga sekarang. Apabila dianalogikan, The Rolling Stones adalah sebuah batu yang hingga kini masih menggelinding, entah sampai kapan.
Dibentuk di London, Januari 1963. Tetapi sesungguhnya cikal bakal Stones sudah ada sejak tahun 1962 dengan formasi awal yang terdiri dari Mick Jagger (Vokal, Harmonika), Keith Richards (Lead Gitar), Brian Jones (Rhytm Gitar), Mick Avory (Drums) dan Dick Taylor (Bass). Kelak sang drummer Mick Avory akhirnya bergabung dengan The Kinks dbp Ray davies, dan Dick Taylor mendirikan bandnya sendiri yaitu The Pretty Things.
Martin Scorsese adalah pengagum The Rolling Stones. Banyak film-film yang dibuatnya memakai lagu-lagu grup Band yang berlambang lidah menjulur itu.
Pada tanggal 4 April 2008, akan tampil sebuah film yang berjudul 'Shine A Light' di Theaters Nationwide.
Sutradara top Martin Scorsese berhasil menyuguhkan daya pikat Rolling Stones ke layar lebar lewat film Shine A Light. Dokumenter sepanjang dua jam ini memfilmkan konser band asal Inggris itu di New York tahun 2006.
Film yang direkam lewat 17 kamera pada dua konser di Bacon Theater itu dipertontonkan pada pembukaan festival film di Berlin, Jerman, pekan lalu.
Scorsese menambahkan sejumlah arsip film hitam-putih di antara lagu, di antaranya memperlihatkan bagaimana Jagger dan Richards menjawab pertanyaan pers. Dua tahun setelah dibentuk, Jagger yang ditanya (berapa lama Stones bertahan ) menjawab santai, “Saya tak tahu. Ya, paling satu tahun lagi”. Kenyataannya Stones yang dibentuk tahun 1962 kini telah bertahan selama hampir 50 tahun.
Jagger juga ditanya, “Bisakah Anda membayangkan apa yang Anda lakukan pada usia 60 tahun?” Jangger dengan enteng menjawab, “Ah, itu pekerjaan mudah”. Kini telah terbukti Jagger, Richards, Watts dan Wood tetap aktif melancarkan tur dunia……..
Scorsese (65) menghabiskan 150.000 meter pita seluloid untuk merekam Shine A Light. “Film ini bakal menjadi rujukan bagi generasi-generasi mendatang tentang bagaimana sebuah bankd bekerja” ujar Scorsese yang sering mwenggunakan salah satu hit Stones, Gimme Shelter di beberapa filmnya.

01.22.08 The Rolling Stones To Release 'Shine A Light' Soundtrack
The Rolling Stones have announced that Universal Music Group (UMG) will release the band's next album, the soundtrack album from director Martin Scorsese's film Shine A Light, worldwide in March 2008. The album will come out on Interscope Records in the U.S. and Polydor Records in the U.K.
Shine A Light, set for theatrical release in April 2008, was shot at The Rolling Stones' acclaimed performances at New York's Beacon Theatre in the autumn of 2006. With special guests Buddy Guy, White Stripes' Jack White and Christine Aguilera joining the Stones onstage, the Oscar-winning director captured two once-in-a-lifetime performances from the band. The film also integrates rarely seen archival footage of the Stones for a unique cinema experience.
A spokesman for The Rolling Stones said, "The band are looking forward to working with Universal Music and are excited about this new venture."
